HJT presents Peter Pan and Wendy Feb 12- March 7, 2010. Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays and Sundays at 2PM, *Sat Feb 13 and 20 also at 7:30 PM and Vacation matinees on Wed and Thurs Feb 17 and 18 at 2PM.

Peter Pan and Wendy is a true play adaption of J.M. Barrie’s original novel by Doug Rand. When the carefree and careless Peter Pan flies into the nursery of the Darling home, Wendy follows her instincts for adventure, bringing her little brothers along to magical Neverland. She takes care of the motherless Lost Boys but soon the Darling children are swept into Peter’s epic battle with Captain Hook and his mostly-fearsome pirate crew. With so much excitement, why ever go home again…?

Directed by Maura Hanlon and starring the one and only *Art Devine as Captain Hook, Troy Barboza as Peter Pan and Rose Cronin-Jackman as Wendy. Scenic and Lighting Design by James P. Byrne, with Costumes by Robin McLaughlin and Original Music and Sound by J Hagenbuckle.

HJT holds auditions for … BUDDY, The Buddy Holly Story.

HJT will hold auditions for the Cape premier of the major hit musical, BUDDY- THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY on February 20 and 21, Saturday/Sunday, 2-4 PM, at the HJT Arts Center on the corner of Sisson Road and Parallel Streets in Harwich Center.

Auditions are for Actors/Singers/Musicians, ages 16 – 40. Please prepare 16 bars of an up tempo song.

Character descriptions as follows: Buddy Holly – sings, plays guitar; The Crickets (his band: two singers who also play standup bass, drums); Apollo Theater Performer -a black singer; Hipockets Duncan – a Texas DJ, and the Ensemble which includes 4-6 men; Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, Jack Daw and the Snowbirds, DJs, producers, sock hop kids plus 3-6 women including Maria Elena (Buddy’s wife), Vi Petty (piano player), a beauty contest winner, and jingle singers.

FAIRY TALES FOR ADULTS!

Fairy tales offer meaningful clues to our personal stories of making wishes, performing the heroic three tasks, encountering the wise old woman or man, and coming across animal helpers or scary challengers along the way. This workshop series constructs a theatre troupe to explore favorite and not so favorite fairy tales through enactment and entering the enchanting realms of self-discovery. Led by expressive arts facilitator, B.E. Johnson

DREAM THEATRE WORKSHOP!

KCACTF Winners Announced

Congratulations to the two students recognized for outstanding acting at the recent Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival at the University of New Hampshire.

Best Comedic Performance Award went to Jessica Hart, a theater major at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT. She was nominated for The American College Theater Festival for her performance in Charles Mee’s Under Construction. She has appeared in many productions in and out of the college theater world including The Birds (Procne), The Lottery (Mrs. Delicrox), the title role in Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella ( Cinderella), and Seussical (Maize).

Best Scene Partner Award was won by Amy B. Lavorgna , a senior at Central Connecticut State University. She performed a scene from Box of Animal Crackers,by Ben McLaughlin, and, for the final rounds a role in Lion in the Streets, by Judith Thompson. She has been involved with several of CCSU’s main stage shows including Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Tempest, Company, The Grapes of Wrath, and Into the Woods, as well as student directed productions such as Lorca and Betty’s Summer Vacation. Amy will be graduating in May with a double major in Theatre and Philosophy, and hopes to theatre and philosophy at the college level.

Each winner was awarded a one hundred fifty dollar prize from NETC. Congratulations!
