Summer Drama Program Leader Boys & Girls Club of Worcester (MA)

Boys & Girls Club of Worcester seeks a qualified instructor for our summer day program 2011. Successful applicant will be trained and experienced in techniques of child drama that emphasize the development of the whole person — intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially — through improvisation and other imaginative, interactive exercises. Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on theatre and/or theatre education. Master’s degree preferred.
BEGINNERS –Ages 8-12 [9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., July 18 – 29, 2011 – Two Weeks]
Basic exploration of resources—voice, speech, movement, imagination, communication—culminating in a showcase presentation at end of session.
TEENS –Ages 12-18. [9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., August 1 - 19, 2011 – Three Weeks]
Improvisation, characterization, memorization, communication applied to a theatrical production at end of session.
The curriculum and showcase presentations may either be based on scripts or created by the student ensemble, at teacher’s discretion.
Technical support (set building, sound, lights) will be provided by qualified volunteer. One classroom assistant is also provided.
Stipend– $3,500 for entire program (about 100 hours total).
