2019 Olympiad Information

Acting Olympiad

Students interested in participating in the Acting Olympiad should prepare two (2) contrasting monologues totaling to NO LONGER THAN 2 minutes. Students will be assigned to one of the three sessions of the Acting Olympiad. They will not be allowed to hang out and watch the other sessions; they will need to attend other workshop options when not competing.

Musical Theatre Olympiad

Students interested in participating in the Musical Theatre Olympiad should prepare two (2) 32 bar contrasting songs. Students will need to provide their own sheet music. No one will be allowed to sing acapella. Students will be assigned to one of the three sessions of the Musical Theatre Olympiad. They will not be allowed to hang out and watch the other sessions; they will need to attend other workshop options when not competing.

Design Challenge Olympiad: Set & Costume

Students who are interested in the technical side of theater should come prepared to show off their design to the director looking at hiring a costume and set designer. A play will be assigned and students should come with either (or both) design sketches or mock -ups (if you chose) of their design for a play. More information for the selected play and other requirements will be out shortly.  We will award a top prize in costume and set design.

Lighting Design Olympiad

Students who are interested in the Lighting Design Challenge will need to design a in a small black box theatre. NETC will provide students with a lighting plot (ahead of the convention) and students will need to explain their color scheme, lighting choices, and major lighting specials that they would like to include in the production.

Stage Manager’s Challenge

Students are put to the test in basic stage manager skills including organization, blocking notations and division of scenes in French scenes. NETC will choose a play to use during this challenge and will send information closer to the Olympiad.
